Healthcare Simulation Technician

Specific Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, program, maintain, and troubleshoot all high-fidelity manikins, task trainers, simulation software, and clinical equipment before, during, and after simulation events.
• Install, configure, and support simulation technologies, audiovisual systems, debriefing platforms, computers, iPads, iSimulate devices, ultrasound units, CPR feedback systems, and related equipment.
• Ensure all equipment is regularly charged, cleaned, inventoried, and stored properly.
• Perform routine maintenance, software updates, system testing, and basic repairs; coordinate vendor support and servicing when needed.
• Affix basic and advanced moulage techniques to enhance realism in trauma, behavioral health, and clinical scenarios.
• Manage simulation recordings, archived materials, and system documentation while maintaining confidentiality and data security.

Event Setup & Facility Operations

• Prepare, operate and set up simulation suites, inpatient and outpatient environments, and clinical skills labs for OSCEs, simulations, BLS/ACLS courses, ultrasound education, and procedural skills training.
• Collaborate with faculty and the Director of Simulation to coordinate logistical support, equipment readiness, event and room scheduling.
• Ensure simulation spaces remain organized, safe, functional and restock supplies post-event according to standard operating procedures.
• Transport, prepare, and organize all necessary technology and physical materials.

Technology & A/V Support

• Manage and troubleshoot CAE LearningSpace™ Enterprise for event documentation and A/V recording.
• Upload simulation data and recordings, ensuring proper documentation and access for faculty.

Inventory & Resource Management

• Maintain up-to-date inventory of consumables, task trainers, AHA course materials and simulation equipment.
• Order, organize, receive, label, and store incoming and donated supplies/equipments.
• Monitor equipment condition, inventory levels, track expiration, damage, and usage to ensure operational readiness.

Faculty & Learner Support

• Provide technical training and support to faculty, staff, and SPs on equipment and software use.
• Support execution of standardized patient events, simulation activities and OSCEs.
• Afford support during OMM laboratories and practical examinations, including serving as a demonstration model when appropriate.

ACLS/BLS Course Support and Coordination

• Affiliate with the planning and execution of ACLS and BLS training events, including set-up, classroom support and breakdown of CPR manikins and defibrillator trainers.
• Maintain course rosters, track attendance, and manage event documentation in compliance with AHA guidelines.
• Order and organize course-specific supplies and ensure all training materials are available and functioning.
• Coordinate scheduling and logistical support in collaboration with faculty and the Simulation Director.

Additional Duties

• Document maintenance activities, checklists, inventories and scenario setups.
• Afford assistance in development and testing of new simulation scenarios or training technologies.
• Afford assistance in program evaluation, quality improvement initiatives, research projects, accreditation activities, and data collection efforts.
• Conduct occasional tours of the Simulation Center for prospective students and visitors.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Simulation.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in healthcare, biomedical engineering/technology, simulation technology, or a related technical field.
• Experience with healthcare simulation equipment, task trainers, A/V technology, or IT systems.
• Demonstrated technical and mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and maintaining simulation, medical, and audiovisual equipment.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adapt to changing priorities.
• Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Experience

• Working in a simulation center or medical school environment.
• Clinical certification or experience as an EMT, paramedic, or allied health professional.
• Familiarity with CAE LearningSpace Enterprise, Gaumard, Laerdal, and Limbs & Things equipment.
• Certification as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) or willingness to pursue.
• Experience with moulage application for clinical simulation preferred.
