About the role
This position supports nursing faculty in providing quality simulated learning experiences for students under the direction of nursing faculty.
Responsibilities
- Boot up and shut down simulators, prepare and break down task trainers, simulation rooms and other equipment/props for simulation or skills lab sessions
- Operate a variety of computers and technical simulation equipment pertaining to simulation scenarios, including virtual reality software and equipment
- Control simulator software to model simulator’s physiological response to instructor and/or scenario specifications
- Operate and maintain audio-visual and debriefing systems during simulations
- Reset rooms in between sessions (restock, replenish supplies as needed)
- Maintain current knowledge of simulation/lab equipment and operation manuals
- Clean equipment as needed (manikin, task trainers)
- Aid in development and demonstration of instructional best practices for the use of the manikins and equipment to help elevate the simulation experiences of students and faculty
- Provide technical support for task trainers and multimedia peripherals, including: vital sign monitors; IV pumps and feeding pumps; and beds/examination tables, headwalls, patient monitors, and other healthcare equipment
- Provide theatrical production (costuming and moulage) for simulation scenarios as requested
- Provide technical assistance and support to students, faculty, and staff in the use of simulation and skills lab equipment and software
- Enforce the safety and security of the simulation and skills labs according to established procedures, policies, and laws
- Ensure that simulation and skills laboratories and other assigned areas are maintained in a clean, safe and orderly condition
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience: Associate’s degree (AD) in healthcare field: paramedic, medic, EMT, emergency tech, LNA/CNA, or hospital technician
- Organizational skills and the ability to follow directions
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Flexible and able to adapt to a dynamic environment based on changing policies, procedures and clinical needs
- Able to balance multiple tasks simultaneously
- Demonstrated interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility, and/or diversity
Qualifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy/physiology concepts
- Effective communication and teamwork with faculty, staff, and students
- Willingness to learn new technologies and methods
