Healthcare Science Assistant Practitioner

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small professional team, based in the Northern Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering department at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne. The team provides a highly regarded quality assurance programme for ultrasound equipment in over 50 hospitals and health centres across the North East and North Cumbria. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self‑motivated healthcare science assistant practitioner to play a major role in the delivery of our quality assurance programme for ultrasound equipment used in radiology departments, antenatal clinics, echocardiography units and other clinical departments across the region.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality assurance measurements on ultrasound equipment in hospitals and health centres throughout the region.
• Liaise with sonographers and other clinical employees at those sites.
• Together with more senior colleagues, prepare draft reports for the users of the equipment.
• Perform tests on ultrasound equipment in a range of hospital and other healthcare settings across the region.
