Healthcare Assistant
Purpose of Role
As a Healthcare Assistant, you will provide in-home support to vulnerable adults, helping them to live independently and safely in their own homes. You will support individuals with a range of physical and cognitive needs, including dementia and other complex conditions, ensuring their safety, dignity, and well-being at all times.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe and effective personal care, including washing, dressing, toileting, and continence support
- Support clients with daily living activities, including meal preparation and light domestic tasks
- Build genuine relationships with clients through companionship visits
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for clients, reporting any issues that may arise
- Complete incident reports, body maps, and daily care notes to a high standard
- Demonstrate strong safeguarding awareness, including recognising and reporting concerns
- Uphold the company ethos and values
- Serve as a brand ambassador for HALo
Requirements
- At least two years' experience in a caregiving role
- A license to live and work in Guernsey
- Willingness to complete the care certificate
- A can-do attitude with a real willingness to improve the lives of others
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and a high level of integrity
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to handle physical demands, such as bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Access to a reliable vehicle
- Enhanced DBS check will be completed before any offer of employment is made
- Two satisfactory references must be provided
Duties
- Ensure the good public image of the Company is maintained, dealing with clients and other organizations in a professional and polite manner
- Attend staff training, such as FAW courses as required
- Attend staff meetings when required
Remuneration
Competitive hourly rate at £17 per hour, starting at 5.6 weeks' holiday. We pay enhanced rates for unsociable hours. Unsociable hours are classed as from 5 pm to 10 pm at £20.06 per hour. Saturday at £20.06 per hour and Sunday at £24.75 per hour and £33 for bank holidays. All travel time and mileage paid either by mile or company-issued fuel card.
