Position Overview
United Health Services (UHS) is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to provide hands-on clinical and administrative support in a fast-paced healthcare setting. In this role, you’ll take vital signs, prepare patients for exams, assist providers during procedures, and manage patient records to ensure accurate and efficient delivery of care.

Compensation Range: $17.98 - $25.17 per hour, depending on experience

Job Responsibilities
- Perform clinical duties within the Medical Assistant scope of practice to enhance patient experience and maintain patient safety.
- Promote and ensure compliance with Joint Commission, NYS Department of Health, Infection Control, and other regulatory standards.
- Maintain CLIA Waived Laboratory standards, perform CLIA Waived lab tests, and complete proficiency validations including tri-annual AAFP Lab Proficiency testing and quality controls.
- Collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to coordinate and support patient care.
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing a positive and friendly first impression at every interaction.
- Deliver high-quality service via phone, electronic messaging, and in-person communication to address patient needs and concerns.
- Handle patient registration, schedule appointments, and verify insurance coverage according to organizational policies.
- Monitor patient wait times and communicate updates to the care team and patients to manage expectations and reduce delays.
- Answer patient questions and provide relevant information while ensuring strict adherence to HIPAA privacy regulations.
- Balance the financial drawer daily, process batches, and analyze financial worklists, taking corrective actions as needed.
- Maintain supply levels by monitoring inventory, restocking, and placing orders to ensure smooth clinical operations.
- Scan and upload patient documents into the electronic health record system (EPIC) in compliance with UHS policies.
- Keep the work environment clean, organized, and compliant with infection control standards at all times.
- Participate in Performance Improvement (PI) activities by reviewing data and assisting with development and implementation of PI plans.
- Engage in ongoing education and training opportunities to maintain and enhance job knowledge and skills.
Qualifications
- Minimum Required: High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program or direct patient care experience, including but not limited to collection of patient information and data, patient interactions or assisting physicians with procedures in a medical office or hospital setting.
- Documentation of current CPR certification required within 1 week of start of employment.
- Preferred: Previous experience in a walk in / primary care/ specialty care setting.
- Certified medical administrative assistant (CMAA).
- Strong clerical background with excellent computer skills.
