Role Overview
The Director Enterprise Portfolio & Capabilities will lead the strategy, design, planning, and execution required to govern, oversee, and realize value from the strategic investment portfolio in alignment with long- and short-term strategic goals. Reporting to the Vice President of Business Excellence, this role oversees a team of managers, senior analysts, and analysts specializing in enterprise investment portfolio management.
Work Arrangement
This is a hybrid, office-based position working at our Ellis Preserve office in Newtown Square, PA. Office days are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday; remote days are Monday and Friday.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Strategy & Planning teams to translate Enterprise Strategy and Business Plan into short- and long-term investment roadmaps aligned with core capability investment roadmaps.
- Maintain a multi-year Portfolio roadmap and drive regular reviews with EPO leadership and governance bodies.
- Ensure delivery of the portfolio, focusing on optimizing benefits, mitigating risks, and resolving issues impacting overall portfolio health.
- Manage investment identification, intake, approval, and prioritization process to effectively govern all strategic investment requests and deliver value commensurate with commitments and Enterprise needs.
- Develop and maintain end-to-end processes, tools, and constructs enabling effective value realization of the Enterprise Portfolio.
- Collaborate with Business executives, finance leadership, and IS to advance sound business cases for all project investment requests, using a standardized process for proper validation.
- Partner with PMO leadership, responsible for project execution, to ensure effective program and project oversight, tracking and trending execution and goal achievement through governance forums.
- Monitor and track identified value for all approved programs and projects within the enterprise portfolio across identification through the first year of value realization, ensuring all stated financial value is incorporated in financial planning.
- Create a continuous monitoring/feedback mechanism to adjust the current course for existing investments and shape capability roadmaps for future investment considerations.
- Provide timely, accurate information, dashboards, and reports of the enterprise portfolio and associated KPIs.
- Engage, challenge, and influence thinking to effect change throughout the organization, fostering a cohesive, high-performing team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Business, Health Care Administration, Finance, or Engineering; Master’s Degree preferred.
- At least ten (10) years of previous leadership or management experience managing multiple and conflicting priorities.
- At least five (5) years of portfolio management experience and Healthcare Payer experience.
- Advanced knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methodologies and processes for strategic planning and portfolio management.
- Prior proven track record leading multiple successful strategic/portfolio planning efforts in a comparably complex environment.
- Experience in corporate planning, strategy, and finance related to portfolio and program management.
- Strong healthcare industry experience (Provider, Quality, Revenue Management).
- Strong verbal and written communications skills, and presentation skills.
- Strong facilitation skills, and the ability to engage, challenge, and influence thinking to effect change throughout the organization.
- Proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a quick thinker and entrepreneurial spirit.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate courageous dialogue, challenge opinions, and influence decision-making at the highest levels of the organization.
- Customer-oriented approach to working with direct reports, peers, customers, and other stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of corporate finance and business case development.

- Minimum of five (5) years of portfolio management experience.
- Experience in healthcare payer organizations.
- Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methodologies and processes for strategic planning and portfolio management.
- Experience in corporate planning, strategy, and finance related to portfolio and program management.
