Healthcare Billing Specialist

About the role

This is a contract, fully onsite position based in Rock Island, IL. The Healthcare Billing Specialist will work for an area healthcare leader, handling a large backlog of invoices and ensuring prompt and accurate payments to vendors using established policies and procedures. As a new system is implemented, the specialist will need to be dependable and proactive in asking questions to refine processes accurately.

Responsibilities

• Utilize imaging system and verify invoices are accurately scanned and submitted into accounts payable workflow.
• Electronically route invoices for approval per established policies.
• Accept and process electronic invoices in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Participate in payment processing, including check printing and electronic payments, ensuring prompt payment of invoices featuring discounts.
• Communicate with vendors, Accounting, Purchasing, and other internal and external stakeholders.
• Research vendor invoice and payment issues.
• Verify vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
• Review vendor credit balances and refunds to ensure timely resolution.
• Assist with governmental reporting (e.g., 1099s).
• Aid with internal and external third-party audits of Accounts Payable information.
• Engage in process and system automation improvements.
• Adhere to proper internal controls to prevent significant errors and irregularities related to the assets of the organization.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

Requirements

• 1+ years of experience reading invoices.
• Basic computer skills, including creating PDFs and emailing files.
• 1+ years of data entry experience.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Microsoft Office Suite experience.

Schedule

• Monday–Friday, 1st shift core hours.

Pay

$21.00/hour.
