Healthcare & Accessibility Co-Director - FoundersBoost (Remote)
About the role
The co-Director will co-lead with one other co-Director and Program Manager and share overall ownership of the outcomes of the 6-week accelerator. In this role, you will serve as the primary representative of FoundersBoost within the ecosystem, leveraging your passion and deep understanding of the community to foster growth and innovation.
What You'll Do
- Program Ownership: Manage a lean support team including a Program Manager and Volunteer Associates. Liaise with HQ, MVMT Ventures, and the MLK Hospital innovation team. Co-lead all phases of the accelerator cohort, including recruiting, in-program sessions, and post-programming support. Source and evaluate high-potential startups, selecting 8 startup teams from a pool of applicants.
- Support Founder Success: Provide guidance to entrepreneurs on business model refinement, market strategy, partnerships, and pitch preparation. Shape a high-quality founder and partner experience that delivers measurable progress toward fundraising, pilot opportunities, and customer growth.
- Ecosystem Development: Deepen community partnerships and leverage startup ecosystem leaders such as mentors, investors, and other seed-stage accelerators. Strengthen collaboration with MVMT Ventures and MLK Community Hospital.
- Program Delivery: Host weekly 3-hour virtual sessions. Source potential mentors, guest speakers, and industry experts to participate in the weekly sessions. Facilitate meaningful introductions to startups that create long-term value.
- Demo Day Preparation and Execution: Guide startups in preparing for a high-visibility, in-person Demo Day, ensuring they effectively showcase their progress and potential to investors and stakeholders. Work with our Event Coordinator to oversee, coordinate, and delegate tasks for our exclusive in-person Demo Day event in San Francisco.
- CES (Consumer Electronics Show) Preparation: Guide startups in preparing for a high-visibility presentation at CES in Las Vegas.
Who We're Looking For
- Deep experience supporting healthcare startups
- Experience evaluating and selecting startups for funded programs (grants or equity)
- Strong operational expertise, with a track record of proactively managing projects and teams effectively
- Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and guide participants and team members
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Comfortable speaking to audiences of 50+ people
- Experience with pre-investment-stage startups, including fundraising and investor relations, is highly desirable
- Strong network of startup leaders, exited founders, and other professionals with deep, early-scale experience, who can serve as mentors and speakers
- Passion for supporting startup ecosystems and a commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship
Compensation
A flat project fee of $25,000 for accelerator cycle running July–January. Expected commitment averages approximately 15 hours per week, with workload varying throughout recruiting, program delivery, Demo Day, and CES preparation.
