About the Role
Provides life-changing services within Job Corps programs to help young people succeed in education, employment, and community contributions through a commitment to safety, quality service, and excellence.
Responsibilities
- Conduct cursory and complete medical examinations, including all PRH requirements.
- Facilitate optometrist/ophthalmologist evaluations and provide ANSI-standard glasses when indicated.
- Administer an immunization program in accordance with CDC guidelines and directives from the National Director of Job Corps.
- Offer daily walk-in services for routine care and an appointment system for follow-up.
- Provide patient assessment, triage, and treatment.
- Deliver emergency care, including first aid, CPR, and coordination of emergency services on and off-center.
- Ensure 24-hour emergency care through written arrangements with local community facilities for medical, dental, mental health, and inpatient care.
- Utilize community resources for staff and student training on wellness issues, self-care, and treatment.
- Establish an off-center specialist referral system.
- Oversee the TEAP program, including assessment, intervention, counseling, relapse prevention, and prevention education.
- Coordinate health aspects of sports activities with the Recreation Department to ensure PRH compliance.
- Ensure the provision of a Reproductive Health Program, including pregnancy prevention, family planning, sexuality, and sexual assault programs.
- Provide weight control counseling, monitoring, and support through the Weight Improvement Program.
- Manage seropositive students in compliance with all PRH requirements.
- Ensure program compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) reasonable recommendations.
- Maintain health service staffing in compliance with required levels and qualifications.
- Ensure all health staff comply with professional standards of care under state laws and licensure provisions.
- Manage medication ordering, storage, administration, and record-keeping for immunizations, prescriptions, stock medication, and controlled substances.
- Implement, execute, and monitor orientation for health services.
- Serve as a resource liaison for Wellness classes and the Health Occupations Program.
- Act as a liaison to the Center Director and Management Team on health-related issues.
- Develop, facilitate, and monitor quality assurance programs, such as staff meetings, record audits, performance data, and external reviews.
- Coordinate with other Directors, Managers, and Supervisors to ensure effective interfacing with all center departments.
- Ensure completion and submission of all Health Service Reports.
- Direct and monitor Health Services expenditures to comply with the established contract and budget.
- Oversee the purchase, use, maintenance, and disposal of supplies and equipment in Health Services.
- Comply with guidelines for Major Medical Reimbursement.
- Ensure medical records are maintained in compliance with PRH requirements and the Nurse Practice Act.
- Provide on-call services to handle emergency care.
- Implement, direct, and monitor infection control measures in Health Services and assist with center-wide infection control.
- Comply with OSHA requirements.
- Provide written standing orders on department procedures for health care.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in nursing from a four-year college or university.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in the nursing field, preferably in a supervisory or manager role.
- One or two years of related experience or training.
Qualifications
- Current State Professional Nurse License.
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
- Valid State Driver’s License.
