Primary Location: Burnet Campus, Department: A7NS Neurology & Neuroscience. Full-time, rotating shift, 32 weekly hours (0.8 FTE).
Responsibilities
- Clerical Duties – Operates and maintains unit information systems, ensuring medical record integrity, forms management, timely response to faxes and mail, and accuracy of patient data. Completes admissions, discharges, transfers, and short-stay documentation promptly. Demonstrates fiscal responsibility for patient charges, rental equipment, and clerical supply par levels.
- Environmental Management – Ensures division areas are organized, safe, accessible, and efficient for patients, families, visitors, and employees. Monitors patient location and traffic flow at the front desk, assists with visitor policy compliance, and applies armbands for parents/caregivers. Reports and follows up on maintenance needs (e.g., wiping down monitors, troubleshooting printers, logging off systems) and environmental service requests. Collaborates with clinical, admitting, and environmental services staff to coordinate patient flow.
- Systems Management – Identifies system problems and implements resolution strategies. Responds to communication systems and patient alarms with urgency. Reviews and revises staffing information.
- Communication – Demonstrates Cincinnati Children’s CARES behaviors in all interactions, serving as a front-line example of extraordinary customer service. Interacts with parents/guardians to obtain non-clinical information. Ensures timeliness, accuracy, availability, and security of information (e.g., HIPAA, Informed Consent, Advanced Directives) in alignment with CCHMC’s mission and regulations. Applies HIPAA standards to clinical practice.
- Provides daily operational and administrative support for the unit and outpatient services. Serves as a resource for clinical personnel on operational issues. Anticipates departmental needs and coordinates information systems, environmental, admitting, and clerical functions for patient care areas.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- No directly related experience required.
Pay
Expected starting pay range: $17.49 - $20.99 per hour. Pay is based on experience, skills, and equity; exceptions may apply for highly qualified candidates. Additional pay (e.g., shift, on-call, or weekend differentials) and benefits may apply. Annual pay may vary based on FTE status.
