Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of activities in support of student health services
- Administer basic first aid and screen ill or injured students
- Prepare and maintain student health information, records and files
Candidates
- Education & Experience: Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school or equivalent, and one year of clerical experience, working in a health office or similar environment and/or working with young children or adolescents in an educational setting or equivalent environment.
- Licenses & Other Requirements: Valid First Aid and CPR certifications issued by an authorized agency; employees must fulfill certification requirements within the first three (3) months of the probationary period.

Testing Information: The examination process may be comprised of multiple choice exam, performance assessment, computer skills exam, or any combination of assessment appropriate to determine technical ability to perform the duties listed in the job description. Step 1: Application Screening (pass/fail) Applications will be screened for minimum qualifications. Applications will be evaluated and ranked according to criteria that most closely meets the needs of the department, so it is essential that applicants provide as much detail as possible and answer all parts of the application, including work experience and the supplemental questionnaire. If there is a high number of qualified applicants, a comparative screening will be conducted to determine which of the applicants will be selected for invitation to the performance examination. Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications for the position will be emailed an examination pass. Exam passes will not be sent until after the closing date for the position. A photo ID is required for admittance to the exam.
Step 2: Performance Exam (weighted 50%) tentatively scheduled on July 21, 2026. Applicants will be required to work through computer exercises using Microsoft Word & EXCEL which simulate the type of work a Health Technician is expected to perform day to day. Applicants must pass the performance skills examination to move forward to the next step.
Step 3: Qualification Appraisal Interview (weighted 50%) tentatively scheduled July 24, 2026 All applicants must achieve a passing score in each part of the examination process in order to be placed on the eligibility list.

Additional Salary Information: New Hires – Initial Salary Placement Education The District has established criteria in place that recognizes the education and experience new employees bring to their role in supporting students and the services of the District. Upon approval of the Director of Classified Human Resources, a new employee may be provided with advanced step placement up to Step 5 based on the following criteria:
Education Incentives: All active, regular classified employees are eligible for an education incentive if they possess a college degree above and beyond the stated minimum qualifications for their classification. AA/AS = 2. 50% BA/BS = 4. 00% MA/MS = 5. 00% Ed.D./Ph.D/JD = 6. 00% (Percentage increase on base salary, paid monthly)

California Education Code provisions prohibit the employment of persons convicted of a violent or serious felony, and also govern the employment of individuals convicted of specified sex and/or controlled substance offenses. All candidates with a conviction record for offenses other than minor traffic violations, must file a conviction record statement with their application. A record of conviction will not automatically disqualify an individual from employment. Failure to disclose any conviction which has not been officially expunged per California Penal Code 1203. 4, will result in disqualification or dismissal. Other: Eligibles will be required to provide a current DMV report and/or proof of auto insurance to the Classified Human Resources Department before being certified for a final selection interview for positions that require the employee to drive a district vehicle and/or hold a valid California driver's license.
