About the role

The Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of top-rated, public K-8 charter schools in Arizona that have been in operation for 20 years. AMS Arkansas is our network’s first out-of-state expansion, opening its doors in 2024, and we are thrilled to serve students and families in the Little Rock community.

Responsibilities

  • Provides professional expertise in the fields of Nursing and School Health
  • Acts as a liaison between the schools and outside groups
  • Fosters relationships with the Arkansas Department of Health and non-profit organizations that provide services to the schools or assist with training and other initiatives
  • Conducts quarterly health office site audits
  • Analyzes trends in audit outcomes to strategize additional training
  • Notifies student's guardian of visits to the Health Office
  • Offers care for student injuries
  • Creates an Arkansas Health Record for each student
  • Records immunizations, vision, and hearing test results
  • Maintains all prescription and non-prescription medication with proper security measures
  • Maintains a clean and sanitized office
  • Maintains and rotates supplies
  • Completes weekly accident and health office visit reports for Administrators
  • Attends monthly staff meetings
  • Conducts hearing and vision screening
  • Completes and sends immunization and hearing reports to the state

Qualifications

  • Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN)/Licensed Practical Technical Nursing (LPTN)
  • 2 years licensed nursing experience (3 years preferred with experience in schools)
  • Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for healthcare providers with AED and First Aid
  • Current certification in Scoliosis, Hearing, Vision and Growth (height and weight) screening
  • Able to pass a background check in the state of Arkansas
  • Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and written skills
  • Initiative and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
