HEALTH TEACHER - CHARLES M SUMNER LEARNING CAMPUS - RSU 24 - 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver age-appropriate, standards-aligned lessons for middle and high school students.
• Incorporate a variety of instructional methods, including lectures, discussions, hands-on activities, and technology-based tools.
• Address critical topics such as mental health, physical fitness, nutrition, human development, personal hygiene, substance abuse prevention, and decision-making skills.
• Foster an inclusive classroom environment that respects diverse perspectives and encourages student engagement.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices and emerging topics in health education.
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress and health-related school initiatives.

Requirements

• A Maine Department of Education Teacher Certification.
• A current MDOE Criminal History Records Check.

Qualifications

• Prior teaching experience is preferred, but not required.
• New graduates are encouraged to apply.

Skills

• Knowledge of differentiating instruction to meet the various needs of all learners.
