About the role
The Health & Safety Manager will lead and manage the day-to-day environmental, health, and safety activities within the manufacturing plant while owning the successful implementation, growth, and continuous improvement of the company’s EHS programs.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the day-to-day environmental, health, and safety activities within the manufacturing plant.
- Owning the successful implementation, growth, and continuous improvement of the company’s EHS programs.
- Ensure compliance with all corporate policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, EPA, NFPA, DOT, and related standards.
- Implement and support a robust EHS management system that promotes a proactive, zero-incident safety culture.
- Focus on risk mitigation, incident prevention, employee well-being, and environmental performance, ensuring EHS is fully integrated into plant operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field. Experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in EHS roles, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, DOT, and other relevant safety regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct safety audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to influence and engage employees at all levels.
- Ability to analyze safety data, identify trends, and implement effective solutions.
- Experience in delivering safety training programs and maintaining compliance records.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Willingness to work in an industrial environment with exposure to varying temperatures and physical demands.
- Willingness and physical ability to observe and walk in a smelter environment.
- Willingness and physical ability to work in varying cold and heat situations.
- Willingness and physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Ability to travel throughout the facility as required to conduct audits and make observations.
- Ability to wear all required PPE when in protected areas.
Qualifications
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Willingness and physical ability to travel domestically and/or internationally if requested.
Skills
