Responsibilities
- Oversee the creation, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, acting as the primary point of contact with regulatory agencies.
- Develop and manage training programs related to hazardous material handling, emergency response, and general safety best practices.
- Lead the investigation of incidents and near-misses, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Administer the workers’ compensation program in partnership with Human Resources, identifying trends and recommending preventive measures.
- Supervise hazardous and radioactive waste disposal processes, ensuring proper handling and documentation.
- Recruit, mentor, and evaluate EHS team members to maintain a high-performance safety culture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree or certifications like CSP, CIH, CHMM preferred).
- 8+ years of progressive EHS experience, including at least 3 years in a management or leadership capacity.
- A deep understanding of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
- Demonstrated success in creating and maintaining safety training programs and policies.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to drive initiatives and meet deadlines across multiple locations or departments.
- Experience investigating incidents using root cause analysis and implementing long-term preventative measures.
- A strong communicator with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Proactive and resourceful, able to identify potential hazards and implement preventative strategies.
- A supportive team leader who fosters professional growth and engagement among direct reports.
- Calm under pressure, adept at managing emergency response and incident investigations.
