Health Promotion Specialist (DOH/PHD#70204)

Job Summary

This position supports communities in improving health and addressing the root causes of health disparities. It connects communities with public health resources, elevates local priorities, provides hands-on support, and builds partnerships that support well-being across the Northwest region.

Primary Responsibilities

• Apply the 10 Essential Public Services framework to support regional public health priorities and improve population health outcomes.
• Foster community engagement, partnership development, communication, and support of public health strategies and services.
• Facilitate, cultivate, and foster implementation of policies, plans, and laws.
• Link people to needed personal health services and ensure the provision of health care when otherwise unavailable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Public Health or Education
• One (1) year of experience in a health-related field
• Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling five (5) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements

• Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
• Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
• Some travel may be required.
