Health Program Internship
About the role
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Salt Lake City (IRC-SLC) Health Programs seeks an intern to support the promotion of physical and psychosocial wellbeing by facilitating access to healthcare services and providing culturally appropriate, strength-based, educational programming.
Responsibilities
- Participate in weekly health program meetings and weekly supervision
- Aid clients in accessing health services and resources and gaining self-sufficiency
- Enter and track data in systems
- Provide public transit orientations to clients or transport clients to one health appointment weekly
- Strengthen relationships with partner organizations and identify improved avenues for treatment and clients’ success
- Identify areas of growth and development for IRC-SLC’s health program and assist in program development goals
- Other, as assigned and/or determined by Health Program Supervisor
Requirements
- Background and/or current study in public health, health promotion, social work, psychology, or other related field
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Motivated, flexible, fast learner, and able to work independently
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Fluency in additional languages preferred
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle, and willingness to drive clients highly prioritized
- Must pass a required background check
