Health Center Supervisor
About the role
Under the direction of the Health Center Manager, the Health Center Supervisor directs, supervises, and coordinates staff and day-to-day operations for an assigned center to provide outstanding customer service, quality, and cost-effective care. This role manages the daily operations of both the Front Office and Back Office areas of the health center.
The supervisor responds to operational issues (e.g., scheduling errors, patient flow bottlenecks, patient concerns, employee relations) and escalates information to the Health Center Manager as needed. All operations and decision-making are conducted in accordance with UHC policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Works closely with the Health Center Manager and clinic management team to ensure staff adherence to customer service standards and quality of work.
- Proactively manages provider appointment schedules, ensuring templates are correctly applied and appointments are scheduled appropriately.
- Maintains patient flow to meet agency productivity standards and goals, ensuring timely check-in and registration.
- Monitors and evaluates staff performance in collaboration with the Health Center Manager, recommending promotions or disciplinary actions as needed.
- Provides ongoing feedback on staff performance and assists with completing performance evaluations.
- Delivers coaching, training, counseling, and staff development in partnership with the Health Center Manager.
- Participates in the interview and selection process for new Front Office and Back Office personnel.
- Plans and evaluates staffing assignments to ensure adequate coverage for quality care.
- Forwards notifications of site audits/visits (e.g., OSHA, Blue Cross) to the Health Center Manager for coordination.
- Maintains direct communication with the Health Center Manager, providing updates on operational issues, process improvements, and concerns.
- Participates in process improvement and data collection under the direction of the QA Coordinator.
- Ensures timely resolution of data entry corrections and completion.
- Monitors accuracy of cash/copay collections, payment entry, and daily site deposits.
- Provides coverage in health center positions as needed.
- Interfaces with other departments to ensure operational effectiveness.
- Multi-tasks and manages assigned projects as directed by the Health Center Manager.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Health Center Manager.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or a related field is preferred. Experience may substitute for the degree.
- Minimum of 1 year of management or supervisory experience preferred.
Skills
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
- Able to quickly build and maintain rapport with patients and providers of differing backgrounds; team player.
- Customer-service oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in computer skills and modern office practices, including email.
- Familiar with adult learning and general training techniques.

Pay
The pay range for this exempt position starts at $73,696.94 per year, dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.
