About the role
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is a large agency responsible for various health and human services. This position is within the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate groups such as Peer Support and formal Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) classes within the treatment mall program.
- Provide 1:1 peer support intervention for individual patients as requested by the treatment team.
- Serve as a member of the hospital’s Hope & Wellness Center Design Team and various hospital committees and work groups.
- Participate in Treatment Team meetings.
Requirements
- Knowledge of mental health and/or substance use recovery principles, trauma-informed care, crisis intervention strategies, and person-centered approaches.
- Ability to facilitate peer support groups, advocate for peers, and assist individuals in navigating healthcare and social service systems.
- Ability to communicate both written and verbally.
- Must be a certified peer support specialist.
Qualifications
- Some state job postings allow for qualification through an “equivalent combination of education and experience.”
- High school or General Educational Development diploma and one year of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills and Abilities

Pay
The salary range for this position is $32,444 - $48,665, with a recruitment range of $39,312 - $43,302.
Schedule
The position requires working 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible for the Sign-on bonus.
