Responsibilities
- Provides basic nursing skills including, but not limited to: ADLs, finger stick blood glucose, 12 Lead EKG, recording intake and output, collecting urine, stool, sputum specimens, applying/removing compression hose, SCD, emptying drains, urinary catheters, NG tubes, and ostomies.
- Obtaining height and weight.
- Performing bladder scanning.
- Documenting tasks, I&O, and vital signs in O2.
- Maintaining a neat, clean, and organized patient room and work environment.
- Maintaining a safe patient environment through interventions such as high fall risk management, rounding on patients, answering call lights promptly, and reinforcing patient/family education on fall and safety precautions.
- Notifying the RN of changes in vital signs, mental status, skin integrity, patient pain, or other patient needs, concerns, or issues.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED.
- Six months of experience as a transporter, orderly, or nursing assistant.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook.
- Data entry skills.
