Health Assistant Summer School

Job Summary

Under the guidance and direction of the Licensed School Nurse, the Health Assistant is responsible for providing first aid and health care to students attending summer school; documenting and maintaining healthcare records and services taken within the building; providing medications to students in accordance with set policies and authorization from physicians; consults with parents, staff, students and others concerning problems or health care issues; prepares reports required of the building, district or state regarding health actions and activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current CPR and First Aid certification
• Experience working with children and/or in a school setting preferred

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of child development and health care practices
