- With Special Ed program Aide License: $19.18
- With Teacher License: $21.25 (Certified)
Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
- Teaching certification through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (preferred)
- Ability to read, comprehend, follow, and give oral and written instructions
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience with the needs of a diverse student population (preferred)
- Ability to work with technology and online student support programs
- Experience working with relevant online learning tools (preferred)
- Insight and understanding of student support programs related to literacy and math (preferred)

Essential Job Functions
- Assists classroom teacher in performing specific duties as assigned or undertaking specialized tasks to achieve and enhance instructional benchmarks and behavioral objectives
- Adapts classroom activities, assignments, and materials under the direction of the supervising teacher to support and to reinforce classroom objectives
- Works with students on literacy development and math development at the elementary level
- Collaborates with others to meet the learning needs of a variety of students and monitor learning progress in students
- Assists students with medical needs as necessary
- Provides general supervision of students throughout the day
- Provides physical and behavioral assistance to students as needed
- Supports an inclusive educational environment
- Makes sure students are safe and secure during assigned periods within a variety of school environments (e.g., lunch, bus stops, playground, classroom, field trips, assemblies, etc.)
- Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings
- Complies with the following requirement: The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District
- Performs other job duties as may be assigned
Essential Physical/Mental Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods, up to six hours in an eight-hour day
- Ability to perform light physical work, frequently lifting up to ten pounds without assistance in an indoor setting
- Ability to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person to provide information and assistance
- Ability to move throughout the building and from building to building
- Dexterity and hand/eye coordination necessary to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment such as fax machine, copier, etc.
- Hearing ability adequate to participate in numerous conversations throughout the day, both in person and over the telephone
- Ability to complete job activities in an environment where background noise and frequent interruptions are the norm
- Ability to maintain concentration and focus on tasks requiring timeliness and accuracy
