Primary Responsibilities
- Assist the Health & Safety Advisor with the implementation and administration of the Company's Health & Safety Program.
- Conduct new hire safety orientations for office and field employees as required.
- Aid in maintaining health and safety records, forms, training records, and documentation.
- Support the Health & Safety Advisor with site inspections by documenting observations, tracking deficiencies, and following up on corrective actions.
- Maintain and update site safety boards and required safety postings.
- Aid Foremen and Site Supervisors with project start-up safety documentation and required forms.
- Support safety initiatives and maintain a visible safety presence.
- Communicate safety information, reminders, and company initiatives to employees and subcontractors.
- Attend site safety meetings, toolbox talks, and JOH&S meetings and provide input.
- Absorb incident documentation, witness statements, and supporting information following workplace incidents.
- Support the administration and maintenance of the Company's COR program, including audit preparation and document organization.
- Support company-wide safety training initiatives and employee safety awareness programs.
- Promote a positive safety culture by encouraging employee participation and engagement in safety activities.
- Perform other administrative and field support duties as assigned by the Health & Safety Advisor and safety team.
Skills And Qualifications
- A minimum of 1 year of safety-related experience.
- Experience in a construction environment is considered an asset.
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
- Strong interest in developing a career in occupational health and safety.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract.
- Current First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to work effectively with employees, supervisors, subcontractors, and management.
- Ability to travel regularly to project sites throughout the Calgary area.
