Health Accountant Associate (Fellowship Program)

Fellowship Program Position
This Fellowship Program position is a full-time, temporary, limited term assignment not to exceed three years from the date of hire. It is intended for applicants that have graduated with a bachelor's degree or a master's degree from an accredited college or university within the last 12 months.
What You Will Do
- Health Care Related Financial Activities:
- Prepares adjusting journal entries.
- Reviews TRS-Care and TRS-ActiveCare invoices for accuracy and contract compliance and routes for approvals.
- Tracks and reports payments to all health care vendors.
- Aids in monitoring funds due from vendors to ensure that money is collected in a timely manner.
- Calculates and prepares IRS tax forms for the Affordable Care Act.
- Reconciliation and Reporting:
- Prepares general ledger reconciliations.
- Prepares monthly financial statements and other periodic financial reports.
- Provides support for the annual financial statement audit.
- Department Support:
- Performs ad hoc tasks.
- Maintains accounting related files and records.
Fellowship Curriculum
- Participates in trainings and projects related to the TRS Fellowship Program including webinars, quarterly check-ins, classes or other learning activities, book group, projects, and the mentoring program.
- Mets TRS Fellowship Program deadlines and goals for completion of trainings in deliverables in a timely manner.
Required Education
- Bachelor's degree or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance or a closely related field awarded within the last 12 months.

Knowledge Of
- Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) statements.
- Accounting and bookkeeping principles.
Skills
- Analyzing accounting records, troubleshooting associated problems, and interpreting and applying applicable laws, policies and procedures.
- Planning, organizing, and prioritizing work assignments to manage a high-volume workload in a fast-paced and changing environment, and completing detailed work with a high degree of accuracy.
- Using a computer in a Windows environment with Microsoft Office word processing, spreadsheet, and other business software. Advance proficiency in Excel, specifically with formulas.
- Effective written and verbal communications, including explaining complex information to others in an understandable manner, and writing clear and precise policies, procedures, and correspondence.
- Completing detailed work with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to meet frequent and multiple deadlines, manage conflicting priorities and demands, and adapt to changes in schedules and assignments.
- Think critically, analyze problems, evaluate alternatives, and recommend effective solutions.
- Establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with co-workers, agency staff, vendors and other external contacts and to work effectively in a professional team environment.
- Learn new tools and concepts and apply them when necessary.
