About the role
Under the supervision of the Principal and the Assistant Principal of Athletics and Facilities, instruct student-athletes in the fundamentals of women's water polo and assume responsibility for the planning, organization, and implementation of the assigned athletic program at Don Lugo High School.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a disciplined, competitive water polo program.
- Plan and organize practices; direct the activities of assistant coaches.
- Supervise athletes before, during, and after practices, games, and sporting events, including travel.
- Demonstrate knowledge of fundamental and advanced water polo skills, techniques, safety procedures, and strategies.
- Foster training in conduct, ethics, and sportsmanship for participants.
- Assist participants in the development of physical and leadership skills.
- Plan and implement tryouts ensuring equal opportunities for all students; ensure the selection process is fair, consistent, and impartial.
- Collaborate with administration before ordering equipment; manage safe and organized storage, distribution, and inventory of equipment.
- Maintain open communication with parents, staff, and community.
- Safeguard fiscal responsibilities; prepare budgetary recommendations, monitor, verify, and reconcile expenditures of budgetary funds.
- Work closely with the assigned administrator to plan and implement activities and fundraisers.
- Work with Booster organizations and ASB.
- Demonstrate knowledge of A-G course requirements for Division 1 Athletics.
- Follow District Policies, site procedures, and CIF rules and procedures.
Requirements
- Experience with rules and regulations pertaining to water polo, league rules, and CIF rules.
- Successful experience in water polo as evident by previous participation in the sport.
- High school varsity level experience preferred in water polo.
- No disciplinary actions within the last 3 years.
Qualifications
Prior to employment, the following will be required:
- Current CPR/First Aid/AED Certification and CIF online regulations completion.
- Current Tuberculosis Test.
- Fingerprint clearance.
- CTC Activity Supervisor Clearance.
- Completion of mandated trainings/courses.
Pay
Single rate stipend of $4,767.00 per season, paid upon completion of the season. Stipend amount may vary up to $4,767.
Schedule
Part-time position for the 2026-2027 school year.
