About the role

Join the team at our award-winning Mead Vet Centre. We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Head Registered Veterinary Nurse who values patient care and progression. Here at Mead Vet Centre, we have a varied caseload where you’ll be fully involved in cases including Orthopaedics, TPLOs, Fracture Repairs, Complex Medical Cases, Laparoscopic Spays, and more. This gives you the opportunity to work within your own areas of interest—whether you enjoy all areas of nursing or specialize in surgery, wards, anaesthesia, or intensive care. We are happy to foster your interests and help you become the Head RVN you strive to be.

As a Head RVN, you’ll play an integral part of our dedicated day team, providing compassionate care and support to patients in need. We are looking for someone with strong clinical skills, the ability to handle emergency situations with confidence, excellent communication skills, and a compassionate, empathetic approach to patient care. Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the nursing team while delivering high-quality patient care.
  • Assist in a wide range of procedures, including orthopaedics, complex medical cases, and laparoscopic surgeries.
  • Handle emergency situations with confidence and professionalism.
  • Support and mentor junior staff, fostering a collaborative and educational environment.
  • Ensure compassionate and empathetic care for patients and their owners.

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) qualification.
  • Proven experience in a veterinary nursing role, with strong clinical skills.
  • Leadership experience or the desire to step into a leadership role.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient and client care.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary of up to £43,000, depending on experience.
  • 4-day work week (10-hour shifts).
  • 1:4 management on-call weekends and 2 bank holidays per year.
