About the role

The Wheeler School, a co-ed, N-12 independent day school with city and farm campuses serving approximately 800 students in the Greater Providence and Greater Boston areas, is seeking a Head Varsity Golf Coach beginning in the 2027 spring season. Wheeler is a proud member of the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council and the Eastern Independent League. This is a part-time stipended position with primary coaching responsibilities between September and early November.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute practice and game plans
  • Work with a range of skill levels and learning styles
  • Support the student-athlete experience by offering help and creating new opportunities
  • Travel with the team to and from away games
  • Participate in professional development opportunities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Previous coaching experience at the high school and/or collegiate levels

Qualifications

  • A sense of humor
  • Warmth and humility
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Empathy for others and the ability to listen and respond with good intuition
  • Ability to work well with colleagues
