Head - Structured Real Estate & Infrastructure Finance

About the role
This is a Senior Leadership role in an established Structured Real Estate & Infrastructure Finance (SREIF) Origination Team, working directly with the Assistant Director of SREIF, Head of Risk, and Head of Portfolio Management.
You will lead a national origination team of approximately 3-4 staff, driving complex debt transactions including:
- Senior Debt and Mezzanine Finance (both bi-lateral and A/B Participation structures)
- Multi-site facilities and corporate balance sheet lending
You will negotiate legal matters, including inter-creditor principles and LMA documentation.
This role is key to delivering National Housing Bank’s strategic objectives by unlocking investments and making the market more resilient. You will work collaboratively with a highly skilled team to deploy capital effectively, benefiting developers and the UK taxpayer while delivering much-needed housing.
The postholder must maintain excellent working relationships with key partners, including funders, equity investors, housebuilders, lawyers, and advisory agents.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team through complex debt transactions, ensuring robust lending structures and successful deal execution.
- Negotiate legal documentation, including inter-creditor agreements and LMA standards.
- Build and leverage your professional network to originate new lending opportunities.
- Analyze complex funding challenges and develop innovative solutions.
- Manage proposals through approval processes while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships at a senior level.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and flexible team environment to drive effective decision-making and problem-solving.
- Deliver first-class customer service with an innovative and creative approach to meet NHB’s objectives.
Requirements
- Demonstrable track record in leading teams through complex debt transactions, including senior debt, mezzanine finance, and multi-site facilities.
- Experience negotiating legal matters, particularly inter-creditor principles and LMA documentation.
- Strong background in finance or real estate, with the ability to analyze funding challenges and structure robust lending solutions.
- Resilience and comfort managing senior stakeholders, with a deep understanding of commercial and operational impacts.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively, inclusively, and flexibly within a team.
- Excellent negotiation and persuasion skills, with a focus on delivering mission-driven outcomes.
