Head Start Paraprofessional
Kansas Children’s Service League (KCSL) is a statewide, nonprofit agency founded in 1893 that serves thousands of Kansas children and families each year. KCSL’s mission is to protect and promote the well-being of children through programs focused on health, safety, and education, helping children and parents develop skills for success in families, schools, and workplaces. KCSL is also the Kansas chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America and Circle of Parents.
About the role
Under the daily supervision of the Teacher, the Paraprofessional supports the teaching team with all aspects of classroom and child supervision and care. The position is responsible for child health, development, and safety, and for ensuring program rules, applicable laws, and agency policies and protocols are followed.
Responsibilities
- Provide a welcoming, nurturing, and trauma-informed experience for students.
- Assist the teaching team with classroom and child supervision.
- Ensure regulations and policies are followed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) certification from the Council for Professional Recognition, or the ability to obtain a CDA within two years from hire date.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
- Demonstrated awareness of the challenges and strengths of children and families living with lower incomes and/or special needs.
Qualifications
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
- Associates degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
- At least one year of paid experience working with infants and toddlers preferred.

Pay
$14 per hour
Schedule
Monday - Friday with occasional evenings and weekends.
