Head Start - Early Childhood Education Coordinator
About the role
Under the direction of the Early Childhood Education Manager, the Early Childhood Education (ECE) Coordinator is responsible for implementing the agency’s early childhood and education systems to ensure alignment with the Head Start Child Development and Early Learning Framework and the Head Start Approach to School Readiness. The ECE Coordinator provides leadership in curriculum development, training, supervision of Site Supervisors, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role oversees the implementation and monitoring of the Child Assessment Systems, School Readiness Goals data collection, CLASS and ECERS implementation plans, individualization processes, kindergarten transition plans, and curriculum documentation.
Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor program policies and procedures related to curriculum and the Desired Results Developmental Profile – Child Assessment Systems.
- Ensure all sites meet assessment timelines, data is inputted accurately, conduct file reviews, assist Site Supervisors in interpreting data, and develop action plans.
- Collect data supporting School Readiness Goals using a multi-disciplinary team approach to ensure compliance with Head Start requirements at the center level.
- Act as a liaison between comprehensive services and center staff.
- Work with Site Supervisors to investigate child and staff incidents, complete all required forms, and notify the Education Manager or Assistant Director.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills And Abilities You Should Possess
- Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
- A minimum of two (2) years of administrative experience in a child development program.
- Child Development Program Director Permit required.
- CLASS certification preferred.
- Successfully complete and maintain Basic First Aid and CPR certification.
- Strong supervisory, leadership, and communication skills; experience in conflict resolution.
Special Requirements
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid California Driver License in good standing with the DMV; current liability insurance required.
- Must meet State health requirements, including passing a physical examination, Live Scan, and TB clearance.
