This position is 30 hours a week/41 weeks per year.

What You'll Do

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Establish a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment that promotes children's physical, emotional, and social well-being.
  • Create and maintain strong relationships with children, families, and colleagues by fostering a positive, respectful, and supportive atmosphere.
  • Foster partnerships with families, encouraging their active involvement in their child's education and development.
  • Ensure the successful completion of teaching tasks, including:
    • Design and implement engaging, child-centered lesson plans that cater to diverse needs and interests.
    • Support the completion of essential classroom documentation, such as attendance records, meal tallies, and bleach logs.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a clean and organized learning environment.
    • Participate in Family Engagement initiatives and activities.
    • Attend scheduled center staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Maintain current CPR and First Aid certification as required.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Must have a High School diploma or G.E.D. and 9 credit hours of early childhood college coursework including 3 hours of child growth and development; be willing to pursue a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA).
  • An Associate's Degree in ECE is preferred.

In the SNHS, Inc. Child Development program, a teacher should expect to:

  • Kneel to address children at eye level.
  • Be able to demonstrate motor activities that may include running, hopping, jumping, dancing, and full body motions.
  • Be able to run after a child in peril.
  • Lift children in emergencies.
  • Nurture children who may need consoling in the case of challenging behaviors.
  • Get on the ground with children in case of fire and help them crawl to safety.
  • Sometimes get kicked or hit accidentally during exuberant play.
