Head routesetter

Job Summary

A head routesetter position is available at a small indoor bouldering gym in Clovis, New Mexico for approximately 3 months from September/October until mid-January 2027. The position includes housing and transportation, with a negotiable salary. Ideal candidates have experience as a head setter, but enthusiasm, willingness to learn, and adaptability are prioritized. The gym is located in a small town, and the successful candidate will need to be personable, engaging with new climbers, and committed to investing in the community.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain challenging and safe climbing routes
• Engage with new climbers to understand their needs and preferences
• Adapt to the evolving needs of the gym and its climbers
• Collaborate with other staff members to ensure the gym runs smoothly

Requirements

• Experience as a head setter is preferred, but not required
• Enthusiasm for climbing and community engagement
• Willingness to learn and adapt on the job
