Head Regional Basketball Coach-(PT) With potential to join Varsity Coaching Staff

About the Role

Bryant & Stratton College’s (Wisconsin) Athletic Department is searching for a part-time Head Regional Basketball Coach. The position has potential to join the Varsity Coaching Staff. All sports compete at the NJCAA Division II level. Coaches are responsible for the overall development and advancement of a competitive athletic program while demonstrating high moral and ethical standards and positive sportsmanship. The Regional Coach must focus on excellence on the court and emphasize academic excellence in the classroom. The role involves working with the Head Coach and Athletic Director to operate within the budget, meet team needs, and enforce college, student conduct, and governing rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Recruit regional players, hold tryouts, and coach the intercollegiate basketball team at Bryant & Stratton College.
• Instruct players, individually or in groups, on rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
• Become knowledgeable of all National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) basketball rules, including student-athlete eligibility requirements.
• Travel with the team unless alternate arrangements are approved by the Athletic Director and Head Coach; may be required to drive vans to games.
• Promote academic success of student-athletes by monitoring academic performance to ensure eligibility requirements are met and encouraging high academic standards.
• Maintain professional conduct as a representative of the College at all times.
• Manage all facets of the regional program, including running practices, skill development sessions, weight lifting, academics, traveling, budgeting, and scheduling games.
• Flexible hours for practicing, traveling for games, and recruiting, with availability needed most afternoons during the season.
• Travel on weekends to recruit prospective student-athletes and coach games.
• Assist with recruiting and work camps as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director and/or Head Basketball Coach.

Requirements

• High school diploma (college education preferred).
• Coaching experience at the high school level or above (required).
• Flexible hours for practicing, traveling for games, and recruiting, with availability needed most afternoons during the season (required).
• Basketball coaching experience at the college level (desired).
• College recruiting experience (desired).
• First aid/CPR certification (a plus).
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning, and leadership skills.
• Ability to serve as a positive role model for young adults.
• Familiarity with NJCAA rules and regulations (a plus).
• Clean driving record (preferred).
• Background check (required).
