Head of School
About the School
Brooklyn Heights Montessori School (BHMS) is a thriving learning community serving 260 students from two years old through 8th grade. Located in the Cobble Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn, BHMS recently celebrated its 60th anniversary and has strengthened its Montessori foundation as a key differentiator. The school's program is firmly grounded in Montessori philosophy, combining brain research and best educational practices to balance academic excellence with a joyful, child-centered environment. The unofficial motto—Boldly BHMS. Joyfully Montessori—reflects the daily experience for students, families, faculty, and staff, as well as the outcomes for graduates who are prepared and eager to contribute meaningfully.
BHMS offers a challenging and comprehensive curriculum for preschool through eighth grade, with mixed-age classes led by nurturing and well-informed teaching teams. Students engage in a full range of academic and artistic courses, along with an after-school program and summer day camp. The school is housed in a modern facility in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, with convenient access to Manhattan and Brooklyn. A capital campaign is currently underway to fund a $2M "Raise the Roof" renovation project, expanding the school's physical plant.
