Springfield, MA – $200,000 annual compensation – Health benefits from day one

About the role

Have you grown tired of seeing Springfield's students constrained by a system that prevents you from upholding the standards they need? Alpha is opening a new campus in the city, and we're seeking a leader who already knows Springfield's educational landscape. You will oversee 15+ Guides who mentor and inspire students while our EdTech platform delivers all instruction. No traditional "teaching." High-impact action. Pure operational leadership. Your objective: guarantee that every student enjoys school, learns at twice the pace of conventional classrooms, and develops essential life skills. This is not a conventional Principal position. You will maintain rigorous standards, leverage data in every decision, and construct Springfield's premier school from the ground up. Lead through metrics. Coach toward mastery.

Responsibilities

  • Establish our Springfield, MA campus: Execute Alpha's three core commitments for 100+ students from the first day with operational precision in every area.
  • Facilitate live skill-building workshops with K-8 students: Lead one-hour sessions covering public speaking, growth mindset, and feedback exchange. Apply Alpha's proven framework to help students acquire skills traditional schools overlook while keeping sessions dynamic and enjoyable.
  • Drive every student toward 100% goal achievement: Create personalized motivational strategies for each individual. Deploy data-informed methods to address resistance and sustain engagement with the Alpha platform. Success is defined by every student reaching their objectives.
  • Develop Guides through coaching and uphold Alpha's performance standards: Leverage data to pinpoint capability gaps, provide clear and actionable feedback, and monitor progress. Make decisive calls when performance does not meet expectations and model the standard across your campus.
  • Execute data-informed campus leadership: Evaluate outcomes across personnel, operations, parent engagement, and school culture. Identify issues, perform root cause analyses, engage relevant stakeholders, and implement measurable interventions. Monitor each decision's impact and refine accordingly.

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Teaching or tutoring individual students. Learning happens through Alpha's self-directed EdTech platform, not through traditional adult-led lectures.
  • Creating lesson plans or curriculum materials. Alpha's operational playbook already exists. Your responsibility is implementation and leadership, not content creation.
  • Overseeing budgets or conducting staff recruitment. Finance and hiring are managed centrally. Your focus remains exclusively on campus outcomes and culture.
  • Serving as the content expert. This position is 80% leadership and inspiration, 20% education. You energize, the platform educates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or related field. Master's preferred.
  • At least 7 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, business, or related field.
  • Direct experience building and managing teams of at least 15 people with full hiring and firing authority.
  • Deep knowledge of the Springfield, MA education landscape. Experience working with youth ages 5 - 14.
  • Strong data analysis skills and experience using metrics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Passion for transforming education. Belief that the traditional system is fundamentally broken.
  • Startup mindset: thrives under pressure, adaptable in new situations, comfortable building systems from scratch.
  • Compelling and energetic speaker who commands attention from rooms full of students or staff.
  • Able to relate to K-8 students, understand their interests and culture, and serve as a positive role model.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
