About the role
The Head of Programming & Engagement will plan and execute the vision, direction and strategic future of Newcastle's Museum and Libraries, as well as playing a significant strategic role in contributing to the cultural direction of Newcastle's Museum and Libraries; driving and leading the activation, engagement and reputation of our service unit and the City of Newcastle.
Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of planning and executing community activating programming and online engagement
- Lead leaders for the benefit of the diverse needs and interests of our visitors, members and city
- Lead the cultural direction of MALL program through the delivery of high-quality, diverse, inclusive programming, events and online engagement for members, visitors and the city that demonstrate museum and library leadership on a national level
- Lead the Programming and Engagement teams to ensure staff are developing, engaged, aware of their responsibilities, authorities and accountabilities and achieve project objectives in a timely manner and within agreed budget and delegation
Requirements
- Demonstrated industry experience
- Experience managing programming and engagement teams
- Leadership skills to drive and lead the activation, engagement and reputation of the service unit and the City of Newcastle
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Museum Studies, Library Science, Arts Administration, or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a leadership role within a similar organization
- Experience in community engagement and programming
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
