Head of ME Lineside Support
About the role
The Head of ME Lineside Support is responsible for managing and leading the Manufacturing Engineering Lineside Shop Support team. This role involves ensuring efficient and effective performance, supporting manufacturing teams, identifying and implementing improvements, and promoting a culture of excellence.
Responsibilities
- Plan future needs of the ME LSS & Work Prep team to meet operational requirements.
- Utilize a robust Risk Management process to identify and mitigate risks and opportunities.
- Monitor and control financial budgets to ensure value for money.
- Drive a 'safety first' culture and champion for safety within the ME team and Kinston Plant community.
- Assist in the continuous improvement strategy, ensuring productivity and quality improvements across the plant.
- Maintain and improve lineside support to manufacturing teams, providing correct tooling and equipment.
- Identify and assist with the development and implementation of improvement opportunities to existing plant, equipment, and tooling.
- Promote new technologies and philosophies within the Airbus organization.
- Ensure adherence to the Airbus Industrial System engineering philosophy.
- Lead and manage the ME LSS & Work Prep team, maintaining and improving industrial performance through teamworking and motivation.
- Maintain a Quality Management System ensuring compliance and standardized working practices.
- Organize regular team governance reviews and drive a culture of recognition, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Plan resource training requirements to ensure team members maintain up-to-date knowledge.
- Deploy the Airbus people tempo, recruiting, monitoring, developing, and recognizing team performance.
- Provide excellence in leadership to team members, providing responsibility over performance reviews and recruitment.
- Other duties as assigned, including promoting a customer-focused mindset, acting as a change leader, and collaborating with various site functions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an ABET engineering program.
- Minimum of 15 years relevant engineering experience within a Manufacturing Engineering environment.
- Strong background in Manufacturing or Industrial / Manufacturing Engineering with knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles.
- Strong understanding of metallic & composite manufacturing techniques & treatment processes.
- Working knowledge and application of Business management systems (BMS) and Quality management systems (QMS).
- Self-driven with a 'can-do' attitude.
- Strong teamworking and relationship building skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and problem-solving ability.
- Proven record of providing excellent internal and external customer service.
- Experience in manufacturing technology implementation.
- Experience in lean manufacturing / continuous improvement environment.
- Excellent command of English (spoken & written).
- Working knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering tool sets (SAP, MES Etc).
Qualifications
- Preferred Masters degree from an ABET engineering program.
- Detailed knowledge of design methods both on 2D and 3D design platforms with excellent drawing/design interpretation skills.
- Excellent working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite - Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook or equivalent.
- General knowledge of FAA, EASA and ICAO preferred.
- Basic Spanish and / or French (spoken).
