About the role
Our client is a rapidly growing, private equity‑backed professional services company serving the logistics industry. Following a recent acquisition, the organization is entering an exciting phase of growth and transformation. The company is looking to add a Director of Finance & Accounting who will play a critical role in building the financial infrastructure, processes, and team necessary to support the next stage of the business. This highly visible position will partner closely with the CEO and senior leadership team and serve as a key financial advisor, with a defined path toward a Chief Financial Officer role.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted financial advisor and thought partner to the CEO and executive leadership team.
- Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic planning, business decisions, investments, and growth initiatives.
- Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting, and long‑range financial planning processes.
- Develop meaningful financial and operational KPIs to measure business performance.
- Provide leadership with actionable analysis around revenue, profitability, pricing, headcount, productivity, and cash flow.
- Partner with business leaders to understand performance drivers and identify opportunities to improve profitability and efficiency.
- Support the CEO and private‑equity sponsor on financial reporting, analysis, and value‑creation initiatives.
- Provide leadership and oversight of the accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely monthly and year‑end financial reporting.
- Partner with the accounting team and external resources on month‑end close, reconciliations, accruals, and financial statement preparation.
- Establish and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls as the organization scales.
- Ensure financial reporting is accurate, consistent, and aligned with GAAP and private‑equity expectations.
- Coordinate with external accounting, tax, audit, and other financial service providers as needed.
- Build, develop, and eventually lead a high‑performing finance and accounting organization.
- Assess the current finance and accounting structure and identify opportunities to improve talent, processes, systems, and organizational design.
- Establish scalable processes around budgeting, forecasting, reporting, cash management, and financial analysis.
- Support acquisition analysis, due diligence, integration, and post‑acquisition reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- 8+ years of progressive experience across finance and accounting, with increasing leadership responsibility.
- Strong FP&A / corporate finance background with a solid foundation in accounting.
- Experience building or significantly improving a finance function, preferably within a growing or private‑equity‑backed organization.
- Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, KPI development, and management reporting.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, and month‑end close processes.
- Experience partnering directly with senior executives and influencing business decisions through financial analysis.
- Experience leading, developing, or building finance and accounting teams.
- Private equity, M&A, professional services, logistics, transportation, or other asset‑light services experience is highly desirable.
