Head of Content
About the role
The successful candidate will lead the Club’s content operation across video, digital, social, editorial, publications and photography. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Head of Content, Head of Digital, Content Director, Editorial Director, Senior Content Manager or equivalent from a football club, professional sports organisation, league, broadcaster, rights-holder, sports publisher or sports agency.
Responsibilities
Own the content strategy and set targets for engagement, views and audience growth.
Use data and audience insight to improve performance and identify new formats, platforms and opportunities.
Establish clear editorial standards and maximise social-first, digital and video opportunities.
Lead first-team coverage across matchdays, training, transfers and key football moments.
Create positive narratives connecting the team with supporters.
Develop original stories around players, supporters, heritage and community.
Create content capable of generating PR pick-up and reaching audiences beyond Club channels.
Lead and develop a multidisciplinary creative/content team.
Set KPIs, objectives, priorities and clear ways of working.
Manage production schedules, resources and delegation.
Build strong relationships across Football, Marketing, Communications and Commercial.
Make Content a significant editorial, marketing and commercial asset for the Club.
Requirements
Minimum seven years’ experience in sports digital content, preferably football.
Proven experience creating and implementing sports content strategies.
Strong knowledge of football/sports content trends, audiences and platforms.
Experience working within a professional football or sports environment.
Proven ability to manage and develop multidisciplinary teams.
Creative, proactive and dynamic, with high standards and strong strategic thinking.
Excellent relationship-building skills across multiple departments.
Comfortable working with sports professionals and senior executives.
Flexible regarding matchdays, irregular hours and extensive travel.
Natural leader able to engage and inspire others.
Excellent writing and copywriting skills.
Knowledge of production workflows and analytical tools.
Strong awareness of social media and digital trends.
Competent in Microsoft Office — Word, Excel and PowerPoint — and Photoshop.
