About the role

AIG underwriting teams help find insurance solutions in areas including Financial Lines, Property, Casualty, Specialty Lines, Marine, Cyber, and Multinational Clients. As Head of Casualty, Philippines, you will architect and execute comprehensive business plans for the Casualty line, strategically optimizing growth, profitability, and local market positioning.

Responsibilities

  • Direct portfolio risk appetite and profitability, ensuring rigorous compliance with internal underwriting frameworks and AIG's regulatory standards.
  • Spearhead the evaluation and approval of high-exposure and intricate accounts, guiding the team in structuring tailored, competitive terms.
  • Cultivate a high-performing underwriting team through targeted coaching, mentoring, and technical upskilling.
  • Expand and leverage deep relationships with key brokers and clients to drive new business acquisition and maximize retention rates.
  • Proactively analyze economic indicators, competitor activity, and industry trends to identify emerging opportunities and dynamically adjust pricing strategies.
  • Partner seamlessly with the claims team and other business lines on creative risk solutions.

Requirements

  • Deep technical expertise in Casualty lines and a strong, localized understanding of the Philippine commercial insurance landscape.
  • Proven track record of managing and growing a profitable portfolio, while clearly communicating risk appetite to key brokers and clients.
  • Exceptional negotiation and relationship-building skills to effectively close complex commercial contracts and build trust across the market.
  • Strong people management skills and a passion for mentoring underwriters, fostering team development, and driving continuous professional growth.
  • Ability to analyze financial statements and market data to make strategic, data-backed decisions that improve business performance.
  • Collaborative, forward-thinking mindset to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Relevant degree or professional insurance qualification coupled with substantial senior experience in underwriting or risk management.
