About the role
The Minnesota Historical Society (MNHS) is seeking an experienced Head of Archaeology.
Responsibilities
- Oversee large excavation and preservation projects with a collaborative approach to stewarding project resources and working with community partners.
- Coordinate archaeological field crews and project schedules.
- Implement policies and procedures for archaeological field work.
- Develop project budgets, schedules, and proposals detailing research goals, field and laboratory methods and techniques.
Requirements
Experience in overseeing large excavation and preservation projects is required. A collaborative approach to stewarding project resources and working with community partners is essential. Knowledge of archaeological field work policies and procedures, budgeting, scheduling, and proposal development are also necessary.
Qualifications
A Master's degree in archaeology, anthropology, or a related field is preferred. Experience in managing archaeological projects, including coordination of field crews and project schedules, is required. Knowledge of archaeological field work policies and procedures, budgeting, scheduling, and proposal development is necessary.
Skills
Strong organizational and communication skills are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with GIS software is beneficial.
