Head Machinist - Lathe Department

Responsibilities

• Responsible for setup of all bar fed production lathes and chucking lathes
• Writes all programs for lathe department
• Purchases/Modifies tooling required for specific jobs as needed
• Schedules all orders on Lathes to achieve on-time delivery
• Maintains the department’s machinery and tooling
• Setup, calibrate, and use analog & digital inspection instruments
• Makes sure quality of products machined on all lathes meets standards
• Schedules the saw department for production bars to meet schedule
• Collaborates with Mill Department for secondary operations, as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Associates degree or work experience equivalent
• Experience machining or a technical trade
• Able to work with minimum supervision
• Able to follow verbal & written instructions
• Able to perform computations
• Able to work independently
• Able to make work-related decisions based on deadlines and customer specifications
• Able to read and understand blueprints, CAD software and setup specs for production including tooling
