Head Coach, Mens and Womens Swimming & Aquatics Director

About the Role

This full-time, 12-month position encompasses head coaching responsibilities for the Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving program, as well as serving as Aquatics Director with oversight of the swimming pool and pool programming.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage all facets of the Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving program, including coaching, recruiting, budget management, scheduling competitions, team travel, and weekly practice sessions.
• Hire, supervise, and evaluate assistant coaches, interns, and support staff.
• Oversee student-athlete academic progress and provide guidance to ensure successful completion of their academic programs.
• Plan and coordinate practice sessions and meet schedules for intercollegiate competition.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising program to support non-budgeted expenses and training trips.
• Organize community service projects for student-athletes aligned with NCAA, Regis Athletics, and Regis College missions.
• Evaluate meet officials and ensure compliance with NCAA, conference, and university rules and regulations.
• Participate in Athletics staff meetings and complete additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
• Direct the overall operation of the swimming pool, including maintenance, equipment, budget, safety, staffing, and programming.
• Negotiate, prepare, and administer contracts for outside pool rentals.
• Schedule, coordinate, and communicate pool access for internal and external users.
• Hire, onboard, train, supervise, and evaluate lifeguard staff, including verifying certifications and managing payroll.
• Collaborate with Facilities staff on daily pool operations, inspections, equipment maintenance, and repairs.
• Order, inventory, and maintain pool equipment, rescue equipment, chemicals, and operational supplies.
• Assist in formulating policies, rules, and regulations for the pool area, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Maintain use records and prepare reports related to the aquatics area.
• Teach courses in swimming and related areas.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and computer literacy, including familiarity with EMR software.
• Certifications in First Aid/CPR and AED required within an appropriate time of hire (per NCAA regulations).
• Current Certified Pool Operator’s License required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work a flexible and irregular schedule, including nights and weekends.
• Ability to lift in excess of 40 lbs.
• Strong management and mentoring skills for interns and assistants.

Working Conditions

• Normal office environment, not subject to extremes in noise, odors, etc.
• May spend extended periods at a terminal, on the telephone, or operating other office machines requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity.

Pay

$55,000 - $60,000
