About Laboratory Testing

Laboratory Testing (LTI) has been the trusted testing partner for mission‑critical industries since 1984, when Robert W. McVaugh opened its doors as a local metallurgical lab. Today, LTI is ISO 17025 and NADCAP accredited, running destructive and non‑destructive testing, machining, and calibration services for close to 3,000 customers across the aerospace, defense, space, and nuclear supply chains. The company is still led by the McVaugh family, now in its third generation, and partnered with Kanbrick, a long‑term investment firm, to bring operating support and capital to its next phase of growth without losing what built it.

The Role

LTI enters an exciting period of growth with a strong people foundation and a culture that is genuinely lived. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director of People & Leadership will be LTI’s senior‑most People leader and a member of the leadership team, overseeing a Recruiter, HR Generalist and HR Business Partner. The role involves building succession planning, leadership development, career paths, talent acquisition and people systems while ensuring day‑to‑day People operations run exceptionally well. On‑site presence is expected at LTI’s Hatfield headquarters and, as the company grows through acquisition, at newly integrated operations when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Build the Leadership and Talent Systems for LTI’s Next Stage: design and lead succession planning, talent review, leadership and manager development, workforce planning and career progression; help leaders identify high‑potential talent and create clearer growth opportunities.
  • Lead People Operations Excellence: continuously improve employee relations, compliance, onboarding, performance management and HR systems; own the annual performance cycle; serve as a trusted resource on complex employee matters; maintain multi‑state compliance; manage ADP Workforce Now and other People technology.
  • Build a Modern Approach to Compensation & Benefits: develop LTI’s compensation philosophy, pay ranges and career frameworks; partner with Finance on annual compensation planning; lead benefits strategy, plan design, renewals and broker management.
  • Raise the Bar on Talent: set talent acquisition strategy across all levels; partner with the Recruiter and business leaders to strengthen pipelines, improve hiring experience and enhance employer brand.
  • Help Scale LTI’s Culture: preserve and activate the 31 fundamentals of “The LTI Way,” supporting managers and teams to keep culture meaningful as the organization grows.
  • Build through Acquisition and Strategic Growth: partner with the CEO, CFO and leadership team on due diligence, integration planning, onboarding, and evaluation of compensation, benefits, talent and culture; act as a thought partner on organizational design and people decisions.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to lead a People function or serve as a senior HR business partner, moving quickly, solving hard problems and earning credibility with business leaders.
  • Backgrounds that align well include:
    • A People or HR Director from a growth‑oriented manufacturer, industrial services company, technical services business or similar operational environment.
    • A high‑performing HR business partner or People leader from a larger organization who has led meaningful talent and organizational work.
    • A People leader from a founder‑ or family‑led company who has helped navigate significant growth or change.
  • Think like both a business leader and a People leader, connecting talent decisions to business objectives.
  • Move with pace, love to build, and be comfortable operating where processes are not fully defined.
  • Build credibility across all levels of the organization through strong judgment, competence and follow‑through.
  • Deep care for developing people and leaders, creating growth opportunities.
  • Embrace technology and AI, experimenting with new tools to improve quality, speed and outcomes.
  • Bring ambition with humility, respecting the family‑led heritage while challenging and improving the organization.

Benefits

  • Competitive base compensation with performance‑based incentive compensation.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 401(k) plan with company match.
  • Paid time off and holidays.
  • Company‑paid life and disability insurance.

Pay

Compensation for this role is competitive, with performance‑based incentive compensation.
