Head Coach — Bears Cheer Program Rocky Mountain College | Billings, Montana Rocky Mountain College, an NAIA member institution, member of the Frontier Conference and associate member of the Cascade Collegiate Conference, is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the role of Head Coach of the Bears Cheer program. This position is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the success of the cheer program, Department of Athletics, and Rocky Mountain College. Position Roles & Responsibilities The head coach’s roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Develop and implement training plans focused on skill development, safety, and performance.Lead practices, choreography sessions, and game-day performances.Maintain a safe training environment and enforce risk-management protocols.Mentor student-athletes in academic progress, personal conduct, and leadership.Promote a positive, inclusive, and team-oriented culture.Identify, recruit, and retain qualified student-athletes aligned with institutional values.Maintain accurate recruitment records and communication logs.Manage program budget, purchasing, and financial procedures in accordance with college policy.Coordinate travel arrangements, itineraries, and event logistics.Supervise assistant coaches, volunteers, and student workers.Ensure adherence to college, conference, and national governing-body regulations.Participate in departmental meetings, campus events, and community outreach.Collaborate with athletics staff and campus partners to support program operations. Core Competencies Leadership & Team Building – Demonstrates the ability to motivate, guide, and develop student-athletes and staff.Communication – Communicates clearly and professionally with students, colleagues, and external stakeholders.Technical Expertise – Possesses strong knowledge of cheer techniques, safety standards, and performance strategy.Organizational Skills – Manages schedules, budgets, and administrative tasks with accuracy and efficiency.Ethical Judgment – Makes solid decisions aligned with institutional values and student well-being.Cultural Competence – Supports an inclusive environment and demonstrates respect for diverse backgrounds.Problem-Solving – Anticipates challenges and implements effective solutions. Education And Experience Requirements Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.Prior coaching experience in cheer, dance, or a related athletic discipline.Knowledge of safety standards, stunt regulations, and conditioning practices.CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain upon hire.Collegiate-level coaching experience.Experience supervising staff or student workers.Certification through NAIA rules and policies.
