HCS Director, HR Business Partners

We are seeking an exceptional, full-time, on-site HCS Director of HR Business Partners to join UNC Health Caldwell and help shape the future of our organization. This leadership role is an opportunity to influence culture, inspire teams, and serve as a trusted advisor to leaders at every level, including the executive team. As a strategic partner, the Director of HR will work alongside executives and organizational leaders to develop people-focused strategies that advance business goals, strengthen workforce engagement, and drive organizational success.
This leader will collaborate closely with system-based Centers of Excellence to address teammate and organizational needs, navigate complex challenges, and ensure sound HR practices, regulatory compliance, and effective risk management. The ideal candidate is a dynamic healthcare HR leader with a passion for coaching and developing others, creating innovative workforce solutions, and fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence.
Responsibilities
- HR Strategic Business Partner - Develop practical solutions responsive to the needs and objectives of UNC Health Caldwell, consistent with the HR Strategy of the Health Care System. Facilitate the development and implementation of better people management and development practices. Serve as an expert consultant to management on human resources-related issues while acting as an employee champion and change agent.
- Employee Relations - Advise and assist management with investigations, grievance resolution, policy interpretation, Code of Conduct complaints, workplace violence complaints, harassment and discrimination complaints, progressive discipline, terminations, work environment concerns, and performance management. Provide detailed analysis and guidance based on internal policies and applicable State and Federal laws. Recommend courses of action to establish positive employer-employee relationships. Serve as a neutral party to assist with issue resolution. Partner with designated resources for complex investigations, agency charges, litigation, and grievance review processes.
- Leading People - Lead people toward meeting the organization's vision, mission, and goals. Provide an inclusive workplace that fosters development, facilitates cooperation and teamwork, and supports constructive conflict resolution. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline.
- Seven (7) years of experience in Human Resources, with at least five (5) years' experience as an HR Business Partner or equivalent role. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Understands and appropriately applies principles, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to specialized expertise.
This is a full-time, on-site position located in Lenoir, NC, with standard hours of 40.00 per week. The role is exempt from overtime.
