About the role

The Maryland Department of Housing & Community Development (DHCD) seeks a Fund Financial Analyst Trainee with a background in accounting and analytical skills to manage staff, set examples, review monthly reconciliations, and ensure deadlines are met.

Responsibilities

  • Manage staff and set examples
  • Review monthly reconciliations and ensure deadlines are met
  • Take initiative, research, analyze data, and propose solutions
  • Account for and reconcile general, special, reimbursable and federal funds within many units in the Department
  • Acquire understanding of multiple technical areas including grant accounting and management, compliance with State and Federal regulations, capital markets, mortgage products, and execution methodologies
  • Manage accurate and timely draws and disbursements of assets
  • Coordinate with program and governmental agencies
  • Reconcile and review MOUs, BB4s, POS and other legal and regularity documents
  • Report on financial accounting functions and financial analysis

Requirements

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting or a related field from an accredited college or university
  • Experience: None
  • Certification: A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification or documented eligibility to sit for the CPA Examination may be substituted for the educational requirement

Pay

This position offers a salary range of $33.92 - $36.59/hour, with potential for advancement up to $52.88 based on qualifications, equity, and hiring guidelines. Initial salary offers are determined by qualifications, experience, and available budget, and typically do not exceed $36.59/year.
