About the role
The Safety Hazmat Technician position at R+L Carriers' Chicago, IL service center office is available for immediate consideration. This role reports to the Director of Safety and is responsible for performing tasks related to emergency response, hazardous and non-hazardous materials clean-up, site-remediation, equipment decontamination, handling of hazardous materials, and other duties as required.
Responsibilities
- Hold a 40 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification
- Work effectively and communicate with team members and other departments
- Inform the management team of issues that arise on jobs in a timely manner
- Update job notes daily
- Physically fit; able to lift 75 lbs
- Able to thrive in a high-pressure and fast-paced team-supported environment
- Lead safety in all aspects of emergency response, including following R+L procedures, properly containerizing waste/re-use products, and completing safety documentation, and upholding R+L’s high level of safety
- Audit incoming/outgoing hazardous materials shipments for compliance
- Ability and willingness to coach co-workers on unsafe behaviors observed
- Willing to participate in specialized scheduled projects as required
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications such as, but not limited to, Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, customer service, and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to work in a confidential capacity
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, while being detail oriented
Requirements

- Based on OSHA and industry health standards, wear proper personal protective equipment when required
- Work effectively and communicate with team members and other departments

$75,000.00 - $85,000.00
Schedule
2nd and 3rd Shift Available
