HazMat Field Driver/Technician - CDL (A)

Transport various waste streams to designated generator sites safely while driving class A trucks. Operate a tractor trailer pulling roll-offs, tankers, van trailers, and other trailer types to perform pickups of bulk and containerized hazardous and non-hazardous waste. May also drive a straight truck periodically.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate trucks including roll-offs, tankers, gravel trains, tractor-trailers, and box trucks.
  • Perform LTL (less than load) pickups.
  • Maintain driver documents such as logbook, quarterly permit book, trip reports, and waste manifests.
  • Understand and comply with DOT regulations for hazardous waste collection, packaging, and transportation, including placarding, load securement, HAZMAT load segregation, and labeling.
  • Adhere to state weight limit laws and operate vehicles safely in compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Utilize company technology, such as mobile applications and software maintenance tools.
  • Perform DOT/MOT pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Interact and communicate effectively with customers to ensure satisfaction.
  • Maintain good housekeeping at the facility and on the grounds.
  • Function as a technician on lab pack and field service projects as needed.
  • Participate in the Site Safety program and required training.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Valid class A commercial driver's license with hazardous material and tanker endorsements (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire).
  • MVR that meets company policy standards.
  • Ability to pass 40-hour HAZWOPER training upon hire.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks associated with loading and unloading materials.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Ability to prioritize, stay focused, and handle multiple responsibilities.

Schedule

Operates Monday through Friday with variable scheduling that may include 3-4 overnight shifts per week based on customer locations, routes, and delivery requirements. Most weekends and holidays off, with occasional exceptions for critical business needs.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $19.70 to $27.05 per hour, reflecting the minimum wage in multiple jurisdictions. The actual range will depend on the locality in which you are hired.
