HazMat Field Driver/Technician - CDL (A)

Transport various waste streams to designated generator sites safely while driving class A trucks. Operate a tractor trailer pulling a variety of trailer types including roll-offs, tankers, and van trailers to perform pickups of bulk and containerized hazardous and non-hazardous waste. May also drive a straight truck periodically.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate trucks which may include roll-offs, tankers, gravel trains, tractor-trailers, box trucks, etc.
  • Perform LTL (less than load) pickups.
  • Maintain driver documents, such as logbook, quarterly permit book, trip reports, waste manifests, etc.
  • Understand DOT regulations as they pertain to hazardous waste collection, packaging, and transportation including accurate placarding, loading securement, HAZMAT load segregation, and labeling.
  • Understand state weight limit laws.
  • Operate vehicle in a safe manner abiding by laws and regulations.
  • Utilize company technology, such as mobile applications and software maintenance, as assigned.
  • Perform DOT/MOT pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Effectively interact and communicate with customers to ensure satisfaction.
  • Assist in maintaining good housekeeping at the facility and on the grounds.
  • May function as a technician on lab pack and field service projects.
  • Participate in the Site Safety program and required training.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks associated with loading and unloading materials.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Ability to prioritize, stay focused, and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.
  • Valid class A commercial driver’s license with hazardous material and tanker endorsements or ability to obtain endorsements within 90 days from hire date.
  • MVR that meets Company policy standards.
  • Ability to pass 40-hour HAZWOPER training upon hire.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $28.50 to $39.22 per hour, reflecting the minimum wage in multiple jurisdictions. The actual range will depend on the locality in which you are hired.

Schedule

Operates Monday through Friday with variable scheduling that may include 3-4 overnight shifts per week based on customer locations, routes, and delivery requirements. Most weekends and holidays off, with occasional exceptions for critical business needs.
